Kia-Hyundai agreed to a lifetime warranty for «problem» engines
The Korean automaker Hyundai, whose structure also includes the KIA brand, announced the introduction of a lifelong warranty for «problem» engines that were equipped with Korean brand cars. In particular, we are talking about 2.0-liter and 2,4-liter GDI engines, the Carcops edition reports.
The decision is associated with the satisfaction of the collective claim of clients who declared the fire of engines due to constructive defects. By the court decision, car owners will receive money reimbursement of the cost of repair work, towing the burnt car and rental cars for replacement, as well as compensation for some other costs.
The automaker at its own expense will repaired or replace damaged engines and will provide them with a lifetime warranty. In addition, as the publication specifies, Hyundai will support customers who suffered due to long-term repairs, refusing warranty service and other problems associated with breakage.
Total distressed engines are equipped with 4.1 million cars. This is Hyundai Sonata 2011-2019, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2013-2018, Hyundaisantafe 2019 release, as well as Hyundai Tucson 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019 releases.
Another 1.8 million cars with engines prone to fire released and implemented KIA. Defective motors were equipped with the KiaSportage 2011-2019 models, as well as Kia Sorento and Kia Optima.
In order to eliminate the problem, software will be updated associated with the work of the detonation sensor, which will allow «constantly track symptoms that can precede the engine failure.» If the software detects the problem, the engine malfunction indicator will flash constantly, and the motor power will be automatically reduced, which minimizes engine damage and allow you to get to the service.
In his statement, the chief lawyer Hyundai Motor America Jerry Flannery said that Hyundai is happy to resolve the problem, and noted that the agreement demonstrates the readiness of the company to always take care of its clients.
