Magneti Marelli presents Security Pass — a device for communication with the controls of vehicles of automakers of the FCA group (Jeep, Fiat, Alfa and others.), Equipped with a security controller (SGW). Equipment available in warehouse from 09/11/2019.
Since June 2017, the FCA group sets the central security unit (SGW), in cars, starting with Fiat 500L, and then for others, for example, Fiat Tipo, 500, 500L, 500X; Jeep Renegade, Compass, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. This central block is a security module that filters all the information at the input and output of the diagnostic connector (EOBD).
The function of this module is to protect the car from hacker attacks using diagnostic tools and tools programming the control panel, both via wired and wireless networks. (In 2015, a couple of hackers received full control over JeepCherokee).
Access (to different levels based on authorization) is allowed only using FCA or Magneti Marelli Security Pass tools.
It is necessary to purchase an access code on the FCA website after pre-registration (the price of 04/09/2019 is 1 euro per day).
